Gerd Müller, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development visted Rwanda in August 2016

The Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Dr. Gerd Müller, has visited Rwanda in August 2016.

During a meeting with the Rwandan Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, Hon. Claver Gatete, Federal Minister Müller valued highly the great achievements of Rwanda in the development and economic sector, good governance and Rwanda’s role as anchor of stability in the region.

The Minister announced that during the bilateral negotiations to be held in spring of 2017 Germany will commit to donate € 75 mio. 

Together with the Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Papias Malimba Musafari the Minister visited the Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centre (IPRC) in Kigali. He assured the Hon. Musafari to further expand the bilateral cooperation in the vocational training.

 

During the visit of market place that has been rehabilitated with German support, the Minister together with the Mayor of the district of Kicukiro had the opportunity to get some insight on the chances and challenges of decentralized economic support. Müller was impressed by the positive effects of the market on the population, i.e. higher turnovers and more revenue for the district from market fees.

 

While visiting the monument for the genocide Federal Minister Dr. Gerd Müller showed his respect and paid tribute to the Rwandan society for their great effort to reconciliation.

Peace and dialogue are the foundation for the reconstruction of a country. Rwanda has commendably succeeded.
