Germany at Tour du Rwanda 2017

After the conclusion of this year's Tour du Rwanda, the German Ambassador and his wife welcomed Team BIKE AID (Germany), Tirol Cycling Team (Austria) and team Kenyan Riders Safaricom (Kenya) to a very informal cocktail at the German Residence. Invited were in particular sports and cycling enthusiasts, who celebrated among others BIKE AID’s cyclist Suleiman Kangangi from Kenya, making it to the podium as overall number three.

The German team BIKE AID is a unique cycling community, founded in 2005 as a non-profit association. With more than 1000 members, contributors and sponsors, BIKE AID is one of the biggest and most active cycling communities in Germany. Until now almost 500.000 Euro in donations were collected for social projects and numerous young athletes were supported. Due to the athletes’ activities the club is globally present at more than 400 events every year.

Since 2014 Bike Aid supports African cyclism and frequently invites riders from Kenya, Eritrea, Rwanda, Tanzania, Namibia and Togo to join their team.  For this year's Tour du Rwanda the riders were: Nikodemus Holler (Germany), Adne van Engelen (The Netherlands), Suleiman Kangangi (Kenya), Salim Kipkemboi (Kenya) and Geoffrey Langat (Kenya).

Earlier this year BIKE AID partnered with the team Kenyan Riders Safaricom from Kenya.
