Celebrations for Day of German Unity 2017

Germans and their Rwandan partners and friends celebrated the Day of German Unity at the Ambassador’s Residence on 10 October. A visit of a delegation from Rwanda’s partner state in Germany, Rhineland-Palatinate, headed by the Minister of Interior and Sports, Mr. Roger Lewentz, was the reason the celebrations had been delayed by a week.

Guest of honour was H.E. Olivier Nduhungirehe, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and East African Community, who underlined the importance of the continued support from Germany. Ambassador Dr. Woeste was touched to welcome as well General Roméo Dallaire, UN Force Commander during the genocide, and currently visiting Rwanda in his capacity as passionate advocate against child soldiers.

About 350 guests enjoyed  German food and wine offered at several food stalls.
