Launch of dual training in plumbing at Integrated Polytechnic Regional Center
As part of a pilot project, a group of aspiring Rwandan plumbers started their apprenticeship. “We take the best from our German system where it fits the Rwandan structures” emphasized Ambassador Dr. Peter Woeste during the launch of the first dual training course. During the ceremony the Rwandan Minister of State for TVET, Hon. Olivier Rwamukwaya, underlined his confidence in the combination of schooling and practice and commended the commitment of Rwandan construction companies. “You don’t become a medical practitioner just reading a study book; why should it be any different for a plumber. It’s the work experience that counts,” he explained to attending journalists. During the one year class the apprentices are acquiring theoretical and practical foundations at IPRC Kigali and deepen practical workplace skills within the training companies.
