Water!Walk from Kigali to Kampala – 550 kilometer by foot!
At 9:00AM on 6 November the Water! Walk with Viva con Agua has started from Inema Arts Center with 30 runners from Rwanda, the East African Community and Europe. Ambassador Woeste has met with them shortly before their departure.
Funded by the Federal Foreign Office an exceptional joint initiative of Viva con Agua Germany and Viva con Agua Uganda will start on 6 November in Kigali. Around 30 international friends of Viva con Agua will walk within 4 weeks from Kigali to Kampala in order to raise awareness on the importance of clean drinking water and the adverse effects of climate change.
They will do this through exchanges with local students and music, sports and arts events. The starting point will be a music and arts festival at Inema Arts Gallery on 4 November in Kigali. Viva con Agua also runs a sponsoring campaign for two water projects, one of them being implemented in Nyagatare District in Rwanda.
The timing is related to the 23rd UN Climate Change Conference (COP23) in Bonn from 6 - 17 November 2017.
